We are excited to announce the 2nd Annual Jeffery S. Heard Memorial Basketball Tournament! This is a charity tournament that honors the life of Pastor Jeffery Heard and his hard work and dedication to the San Jose community.

• 5-on-5 basketball tournament
• playoff style tournament with consolation bracket (guaranteed at least 2 games)
• awards & prizes for top winners

Four divisions -

1. High school boys
2. High school girls
3. Men’s open (18 & up)
4. Women’s open (18 & up)

From the Northbay/Eastbay:
Take Highway 680 S to 280 North. Exit Capitol Expressway and remain on Capital Expressway until Ocala Avenue. Left on Ocala and left on N. White Road. The available parking lot is off White Road.

From the Southbay
Take US 101 N. Exit E. Capitol Expressway and remain on Capital Expressway until Ocala Ave. Turn right on Left on Ocala and left on N. White Road. The available parking lot is off White Road.

From the Westside:
Take Highway 280 South to 680 North. Exit Capitol Expressway and remain on Capital Expressway until Ocala Avenue. Left on Ocala Ave and left on N. White Road. The available parking lot is off White Road.

• Priority Registration: March 19, 2010
• Regular Registration: April 1, 2010

Cost per team (minimum 5 people; maximum 12 people):

• High School Division: $100/team before March 19th. $150 after March 19th.
• 18+ Division: $200/team before March 19th, $250 after March 19th.

In June 1998 Minister Jeff Heard responded to a vision and call from God to research and plant a Generation X church for minorities in East Side San Jose. While not feeling led to immediately start a church, leaders kicked off Bible Study at the East Valley YMCA.

The focus of the program was to implement a non-traditional, non-denominational, comfortable environment for young people of all walks of life to come and study the Word of God. At the inauguration of Bible Study, young people from all over the community attended the celebration, which included a free pool party.

The Bible Study in 1998 led to the official planting of a non-traditional church, Rohi Temple of Reconciliation, as planned. The grand opening of RTR included an Easter celebration that provided an egg hunt, pony rides, face painting and games. The community was able to enjoy this festive occasion at no cost. Over 100 community members came out to enjoy the Easter Celebration, as the Word was shared and the fellowship between neighbors was achieved.

Over 10 years later the church is still thriving — Praise God! You can now find RTR at http://www.rohichurch.org.
